My name is Robert Arles. I live in southern California equidistant from LA and Orange county.
This site will be the host of applications I develop, hopefully gobs and oodles of them.
Quick Background on me:
I was working as a systems engineering team lead and was laid off at the end of January 2009. I started working the traditional methods of looking for work as a systems engineer, and have been pretty disappointed with the job market, and also saw this as an opportunity to learn something new.
I started learning iPhone development about a month and a half ago. My first app, now in the app store, was TwitterTrak. A simple app which I will be improving now that my experience level has increased dramatically. TwitterTrak is a simple twitter search interface that allows searching for poeples names, #hashtag topics, messages to or from a user etc. This one took me about a month because I had to buy and learn how to use a Mac and an iPhone, and then I had to learn Objective-C, Apple’s MVC framework, and the basics of the API. Don’t tell my wife, but I think I’ve fallen in love with Objective-C.
My second app, version 1.0 now completed and waiting for Apple’s appStore approval, is BeTwittered for the iPhone. This one is a full Twitter client. Version one does all of the basics that would be expected, and I’ll be adding photo sharing, an integrated web browser, and a bunch of other little features.
My development skills are growing rapidly and I’m loving it. I have every intention of making this my future. I think I’m well rounded and will do well at this.
I also have experience doing web development with BeTwittered for the web (about 30k subscribers today) TwitterSearch, and BeTrendy. If you’d like, you can see screen shots and see them in action at http://32hours.com.
