Hi Chris,

Thanks for the suggestion. I made the change. Twitter service has been so bad that I have turned off the "Oh, Twitter" message altogether. I'll turn it back on later when Twitter gets back to a stable situation, and after I add a bit better timeline request error handling on the server side.

Thanks,
Robert

How about losing the overlay error messages that make you click to close them. It's pretty annoying having to click to close given how frequently they pop up.

Hi Pritchett4,

Yes, over the past few days, BeTwittered has been unreliable. It's been a combination of issues.

First, BeTwittered grew to a point where it was banned by Twitter for too making too many Twitter requests (more than 10k per hour) I quickly got the ban lifted, and submitted a request to make BeTwittered an exception to the 10k rule. They have accepted it and BeTwittered no longer will be held to that rule. :)

Also, Twitter has been having some problems over the last few days. When Twitter has problems, BeTwittered is directly affected. BeTwittered is on a small server that gets overwhelmed when Twitter starts doing the "fail whale" thing and stops responding properly. I'm hoping to fix that problem by getting BeTwittered to generate a little more revenue so it can pay for a beefier server.

Finally, I noticed a bug by using TwitterSearch to keep tabs on BeTwittered comments. I have beefed up the "send" function a bit. Now, when you click send, if the first try fails, the server will silently try again for you. If that fails, BeTwittered will let you know. Most importantly, your Tweet will not get erased from the text box. No more retyping failed Tweets when Twitter starts to gasp and stumble about.

Thanks for you input, and sorry for the hassle.

I have been using betwittered for some time, however in the past 3 or 4 days I keep getting "twitter did not respond in a same manner" and have had to switch to twittergadget which does not have these issues. Is there a fix for this? Thanks in advance - neat gadget!

Hi Debbie,

Sorry to say, there is no search function. I am working on a new version and have added a tab called "search" to keep me motivated. :) I haven't dived into that part yet, so not sure when I'll get to it, unfortunately.

Thanks,
Robert

Hi Robert:

I've found BeTwittered to be a very handy tool. Because I can't access Twitter through my office network's firewall, is there a way to search for people I want to follow through BeTwittered?

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the feedback, and glad you like betwittered!

Sorry to say, I'm not sure when I'll be able to support multiple logons through the regular version. Google documentation on some of the things I need to understand are pretty slim.

Something you might try, though, is to add the beta version to your iGoogle page (preBeTwittered) I usually have it in a very stable state, and actually use it myself to monitor a second twitter account.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

First things first: thnx for this neat little application! ;)

At the top of this message I see: "couple of the features we’re working on are allowing multiple account logons".

Can you please tell me (reply by mail?) when this will be featured? One of the reasons I use netvibes is because it offers me a way to update my twits at a site in Dutch and English at the same time...

Hi Denis.

Thanks for the reminder. I really meant to do this, and got so used to the icons while I was working on the changes, that I forgot to add the text titles.

I've implemented the titles for the icons, which should now appear as you hold your cursor over them.

thanks!

I would love to see "title" attribute of icons filled.
Title can give an explanation, what the hell does this icon do, like "Send a direct message", which I would see as a popup.
Thank you!
